About Me

Headshot1.JPG

I am an expressive arts therapist, a transformative arts educator and an arts program consultant. My passion and professional experience focus on using the arts (Theater, visual arts, creative writing, movement, and sound) as tools for supporting and building sustainable, healthy, and vibrant communities.

For over 15 years, I have developed and implemented art programs focusing on education, social justice-informed therapy, peace building, and social activism for children, youth, adults, seniors, and families in settings such as schools, universities, museums, social service agencies, jails and prisons, women’s shelters and community centers. I have implemented some of these projects internationally in Colombia, Argentina, Nepal, Egypt, India, Guatemala, and Palestine.

During my undergraduate education at Baruch College School of Public Affairs in New York City, I developed my capacity to design and coordinate programs and gained experience in a variety of non-profit organizations. I have an M.A. in Human Rights from the University of Frieburg in Germany and an M.A in Expressive Arts Therapy from the European Graduate School in Saas Fe, Switzerland. I am currently an expressive arts educator and therapist at various art and education institutions in New York City, including: The Studio Museum in Harlem, El Museo del Barrio and Arts and Minds. My work is grounded in tapping into the endless potential that exists within all people’s creativity to foster individual and collective healing.

My practice is informed by creative and therapeutic methodologies such as: Theater of the oppressed, improvisation games, clown techniques, visual inquiry methods, a wide variety of visual art media (Painting, drawing, sculpting, mixed-media, photography), trauma informed yoga, somatic therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
